OBJECTIVE
The objective of health research under FP7 is to improve the health of European citizens and boost the competitiveness of health-related industries and businesses, while addressing global health issues such as anti-microbial resistance, HIV/AIDS, malaria, tuberculosis and emerging pandemics.
- Biotechnology, generic tools and technologies for human health - producing knowledge that will be applied in the area of health and medicine;
- Translating research for human health - making sure that basic discoveries have practical benefits and improve the quality of life;
- Optimising the delivery of health care to European citizens - ensuring that the results of biomedical research will ultimately reach the citizens.
Researchers and research organisations in the field of Health located outside Austria can find support by FFG in finding Austrian project partners. EU-Initiatives, databases and competence catalogues list profiles of Austrian researchers, research institutions and research-intensive SMEs.

INTERNATIONAL COOPERATION
The European Commission has launched a new approach to international cooperation under FP7. The intensified globalisation process, the rise of new economies, and the global character of health problems call for broader international research collaboration.
One of the main objectives of the international cooperation actions is to strengthen European competitiveness through strategic partnership with third countries by engaging best third country scientists to work in and with Europe. In parallel, specific problems that third countries face or that have a global character and may have an impact on their sustainable development, will be addressed in a dialogue based on mutual interest and mutual benefit.
